Pai Sho Board

Pai Sho is a board game, so the first thing you should learn about is the board, which is commonly known as Pai Sho Ban. Here's a sample picture:



As you can see, the Pai Sho Ban is divided into various areas. These regions are named as follows:



You may be wondering: “Why is the North Torii at the bottom and not at the top??”; That’s not a mistake. In traditional Asian charts, the orientation is often with South at the top (so upside down basically), and in Pai Sho it’s just the same.

About Seating: When playing, each player sits in front of one Torii. For example, in a two player game, both opponents face each other, one sitting at the East Torii, one sitting at the West Torii.
